The department continues to accept gifts to the Charles B. Hammond Research Endowment. Dr. Charles B. Hammond, Chair Emeritus led the department for more than 20 years until his retirement in 2002. This research fund is designed to assist junior faculty, fellows and residents in their research initiatives.
You can make a gift to existing professors and research initiatives or to the specific research program of any faculty members in the department. Faculty members are involved in both basic and clinical research in several areas including perinatal research on premature birth, the genetics of ovarian cancer and etiology and treatment of uterine fibroids, pelvic floor disorders and ovarian and oocyte cryopreservation.
The department also launched a Global Women’s Health Program in conjunction with the Global Initiative of Duke University Medical Center. This initiatives include bring quality care to the women of
Haiti
and an International Fistula Program in
Africa
.
