Amie Kawasaki, MD
Dr. Amie Kawasaki is a Female Pelvic Medicine & Recontructive Surgery board-certified Urogynecologist with an active clinical career that involves the diagnosis and treatment of a variety of conditions such as prolapse, urinary incontinence, urinary retention/voiding dysfunction, fecal incontinence, pelvic floor dysfunction and recurrent urinary tract infections.
Being fellowship trained, she offers a wide range of evidence-based treatment options. Dr. Kawasaki is comfortable with the medical management of overactive bladder, as well as with advanced treatment of the condition – performing posterior tibial nerve stimulation, intravesical botulinum injections, and sacral neurmodulation. She is experienced with the counseling and fitting of patients desiring non-surgical pessaries for prolapse as well as the surgical treatment of prolapse via vaginal native tissue surgery, graft-augmented procedures, and minimally-invasive laparascopic and robotic techniques. Her clinical practice is comprehensive and includes the use of pelvic floor physical therapy to improve patient care.
Dr. Kawaskai practices in a university-based system and is actively involved in the education of medical students, residents and FPMRS fellows and has a particular interest in both community and medical education and have become increasingly more involved in giving presentations and lectures aimed at increasing the knowledge and awareness of pelvic floor disorders.
Her experience with public speaking live, on the air with radio, or on television has helped me develop my commitment to public engagement and support for women with these conditions. She actively participate in clinical research and support clinical research agendas by assisting in recruitment and facilitating communication among different specialties that treat potential research subjects.
