The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is at the forefront of women’s reproductive health care, education and research. The Department is comprised of MD and PhD faculty, consulting and adjunct faculty, advanced practice providers and the APP Service at Duke. This service is an integrated part of the Divisions of Maternal-Fetal Medicine and Gynecology and includes nurse practitioners, certified nurse midwives and physician assistants. The service focuses on women’s health, including routine and abnormal gynecologic care, prenatal and postnatal care, as well as personalized delivery in a hospital setting.

Approximately 60,000 women are seen for clinical care by Duke Ob/Gyn providers annually, including almost 6,000 deliveries, 3,900 surgeries and 150,000 clinic visits with care provided at three Duke hospitals, the Durham Department Veterans Affairs Medical Center, two community hospitals in Wake County (Raleigh, NC) and 25 ambulatory sites.


Gynecologic Oncology

The Duke Division of Gynecologic Oncology is a leader in research, education and clinical care. Our internationally-recognized faculty provide expertise in the evaluation and treatment of cancers that affect the reproductive system. This includes advanced minimally invasive surgery, chemotherapy, palliative care and management of hereditary cancers.


Maternal-Fetal Medicine

The Duke Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) Division is a leader in research, education and clinical care. Our internationally-recognized MFM faculty provide expertise in high-risk, complicated pregnancies. Our specialists are trained in the latest, cutting-edge procedures for the evaluation and treatments in maternal-fetal care. We are committed to training the next generation of MFM specialists and providing world-class clinical care.


Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery (MIGS)

The Duke Division of Minimally Invasive Gynecology (MIGs) is a leader in treating patients with conditions such as uterine fibroids, endometriosis, pelvic pain, abnormal uterine bleeding, and ovarian cysts. 


Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (REI)

The Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (REI) provides the highest level of patient care, outstanding education, and advanced research in human reproduction.


Reproductive Sciences

The Division of Reproductive Sciences Division focuses on the developmental origins on health and disease, in particular the role of epigenetics in development of gynecologic malignancies, and the impact of environmental exposures on childhood development.


Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery

The Duke Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery Division is a leader in research, education and patient care. Internationally-recognized faculty provide expertise in urogynecology and reconstructive pelvic surgery. The division focuses on individualizing patient care and takes pride in educating our patients about their conditions and available treatment options.


Women's Community and Population Health
