Duke Ob/Gyn participated at the recent Duke Health Professions Recruitment and Exposure Program (HPREP) Career Fair, which was held April 5. This annual event is designed to introduce high school students to careers in health care, giving them the chance to network, engage with professionals and be inspired by the journeys of those working in the field. Duke Ob/Gyn hosted two interactive tables at the fair.
One table, in partnership with Duke Fertility Center, provided students with an inside look at reproductive endocrinology and infertility (REI) through microscope use and sperm motility demonstrations. Jaunice Cottone, PA-C, MCMSc; Erin White, MS; and Anna LaBang shared their time and expertise with future leaders.
A second table featured information about career paths in obstetrics and gynecology, along with an engaging birth simulation. Students had the opportunity to learn about maternal health firsthand and even participate in the simulation. Faculty Melody Baldwin, MD, MPH; and residents Shakira Harding, MD, MS, and LaMani Adkins, MD, provided engaging and informative opportunities to attendees.
