Residency Program

Start Year:

2021

Why did you choose Duke for your residency training?

Ob/Gyn is a team sport in all ways, and I loved the emphasis on teamwork and leadership the program offered. Mentorship, research and innovation are also core to the values of the program as well as high quality patient care and those things were very important to me. Durham is also a great place to live and work, and having a non-medical partner, that was important in our search!

What excites you about the residency program at Duke OB/GYN?

The people! Faculty, co-residents, medical students and most importantly diverse patients! The patient population is so unique and learning to provide culturally competent patient-centered care has been a privilege. Duke is a unique place – faculty are invested in residents, my co-residents are supportive, patient and kind and the clinical experiences and autonomy in providing patient-centered care have exceeded my expectations.

What are your career goals?

Currently, I am focused on learning about the breadth of obstetrics and gynecology and the multitude of career options that offers. I hope to one day have a career where teaching is a component, whether that be creating patient resources or a more formal role in medical education, I can see myself enjoying all of it. I am interested in being a rural obstetrician gynecologist in some capacity and trying to make a large impact in a community with low access to care.

Describe your research interests/goals:

Medical student education, women with physical disabilities in pregnancy

What are your hobbies?

I love being an animal mom (2 dogs and 10 chickens), cooking, entertaining, playing competitive volleyball, channeling my inner midwife and all things Ina Garten.
