2025 Donald T. Moore, MD, Endowed Lecture — Community Event
The Donald T. Moore, MD, Endowed Lecture honors the legacy of the esteemed physician, educator and community leader. Following the evolving desegregation of Duke Hospital, Dr. Moore had a tremendous impact as the first African American Fellow in the School of Medicine; he also served as Chief of Ob/Gyn at Lincoln Hospital, and trained many Duke residents, medical students and nurses.
Featured speaker Haywood L. Brown, MD is senior associate vice president of academic and faculty affairs for the University of South Florida Health and a professor of obstetrics and gynecology for the Morsani College of Medicine at the University of South Florida. He is also chair emeritus of obstetrics and gynecology and a distinguished emeritus professor at Duke University. Dr. Brown served as the 68th president of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, as well as the former obstetrics and gynecology section chair for the National Medical Association. He is the co-PI for the HRSA Alliance for Innovation on Maternal Health Postpartum Community Care Initiative and a board and committee member for the Alliance for Women’s Health Prevention and the Merck for Mothers Global Health Advisory Board.
The lecture takes place in-person in the lecture hall of the Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University.
