Women's and Newborn Service Line Announced

Duke Ob/Gyn Interim Chair Brenna Hughes, MD, MSc, announced the newly launched and augmented Women's and Newborn Service Line today. The service line is a health systemwide, integrated clinical initiative dedicated to advancing women’s health, with an emphasis on reproductive care. It promotes a coordinated, patient-centered approach. The new structure serves as a strategic framework for deploying Duke Health’s enterprise goals across the continuum of care, aligning clinical excellence with operational efficiency, multidisciplinary care and innovation. A shared vision for excellence in women’s and newborn health is our strategic goal.

As the department expands its role in the Duke University Health System, Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Joe English, MBA, MHA, will now also serve as vice president for the Women’s and Newborn Service Line. Dr. Hughes will serve as Ithe physician vice president for the new Women's and Newborn Service Line, in addition to her role as interim chair,
