Why did you choose Duke for your residency training?
Duke felt like home during my interview! Between the research opportunities, unique catchment area, and the incredible physicians, Duke felt like the perfect place to start my career. In addition to the great program, Durham is an incredible place to live. Great food, great entertainment, and great proximity to beautiful scenery.
What excites you about the residency program at Duke Ob/Gyn?
I remember reading a letter from the program director, Dr. Beverly Gray, and she said that she wants to train "kind consultants". That phrase always stuck with me. Kindness in medicine gets me excited, and Duke's OBGYN clearly prioritizes kindness.
What are your career goals?
Who knows what will happen in four years, however, right now, I am primarily interested in gynecologic oncology or maternal fetal medicine. No matter what I end up choosing, advocating for women and people with uterus’ will be my number one priority.
Describe your research interests/goals:
I am primarily interested in cost effective analysis, screening tools for ovarian cancer, and quality improvement projects oriented at ensuring providers are providing trauma-informed care.
What are your hobbies?
I love movies! My wife and I enjoy going to film festivals. When I lived in Utah, I was also a big skier. Also, whenever we get the chance, my wife and I love to travel to new cities, mostly for the food.
