Why did you choose Duke for your residency training?
I ultimately chose Duke because of the culture among residents and faculty in the program. As a medical student at Duke, I witnessed the support and respect they consistently demonstrated to their colleagues and patients. I felt that Duke would provide exceptional clinical training aligned with my professional goals while also encouraging my development as a kind and compassionate physician.
What excites you about the residency program at Duke Ob/Gyn?
I’m so excited to join the residency family and learn from the many wonderful people I’ve gotten to know as a student! I can’t wait to work among people with varied interests in ob/gyn who are all equally passionate about caring and advocating for their patients. Also, I couldn’t be more excited to meet my co-interns and learn alongside them for the next four years.
What are your career goals?
I would love to work in an academic setting for my career and be surrounded by opportunities to teach learners of all levels! Regarding a specific area within ob/gyn, I’m interested in gynecologic surgery, particularly gynecologic oncology and MIGS. That being said, I’m excited to get exposure to all areas of ob/gyn during residency and see how my interests evolve.
Describe your research interests/goals:
My research in medical school focused primarily on patient preferences and education, specifically regarding hormone replacement therapy in BRCA mutation carriers. I loved the patient-centered nature of this research and hope to continue pursuing work that helps patients better understand their values and how those values interface with complex medical decisions. Through my future research, I hope to empower patients to make educated decisions about their healthcare and foster enhanced communication between patients and providers.
What are your hobbies?
Running! I ran cross country in college and love how the sport has continued to provide opportunities to meet others and build community over the past few years. My other hobbies include playing pickleball and badminton, watching movies, and playing board games and cards.
