Gynecologic oncologist Angeles Alvarez Secord, MD, MHSc, was recently honored by the American Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists Foundation for her exceptional service. The AAOGF is a long-standing foundation that has supported junior investigators with funding and mentorship, and launched the careers of many in the field of obstetrics and gynecology.
Dr. Secord was recognized as the outgoing chair of the Scholar Committee; she served on the AAOGF Board of Trustees since 2015 and served two terms as chair of the Scholar Committee. During her tenure, Dr. Secord led the expansion of the AAOGF scholarship program, securing new partnerships to help support several new scholarships including the AAOGF Mentored Clinician-Scientist Career Development Award and the AAOGF Pilot Innovation Award for Under-Represented Minority Investigators.
