Dept. Holds 1st Virtual Hammond Research Day

Duke Ob/Gyn held its first virtual Charles B. Hammond, MD, Research Day on June 10, 2020, at which presentations, question-answer sessions and judging were all done via Zoom.

Eight residents and five fellows presented their research. Winners were Vivienne Meljen, MD (resident) and Stephanie Smeltzer, MD (fellow).

Named to honor Charles B. Hammond, MD, esteemed Chairman Emeritus and third Chairman of the Department of Ob/Gyn at Duke University Medical Center, Research Day is intended to advance medical knowledge, education and research in reproductive medicine. In past years, the Department has invited a distinguished leader in the field of Ob/Gyn. to present a lecture on Research Day and to participate in the judging of research presentations. Due to COVID-19, there was no guest speaker this year. Judges were Geeta Swamy, MD; Suheil Muasher, MD; and Dept. Chair Matthew D. Barber, MD, MHS.
