Congratulations to Duke Fertility Center nurse Cathy Gustafson, RN, IBCLC, RLC, who was the DAISY award recipient for the PDC for last quarter. Her nomination stated, "Cathy has been my fertility nurse for years. Navigating infertility would not have been the same if it wasn’t for her. She is always so compassionate and kind, and goes above and beyond. She is very patient and willing to make sure I have the information I need regarding medications to take and when, as well as what to expect from upcoming procedures. I dreaded the process of infertility treatments, but Cathy puts me at ease when I am feeling anxious and I truly wouldn’t want to go through this journey without her."
Duke University Hospital has recently partnered with The DAISY Foundation to provide ongoing recognition of the remarkable clinical skill and compassion that Duke nurses deliver all throughout the year. Nurses are nominated by anyone in the organization who experiences or observes extraordinary compassionate care being provided by a nurse. DAISY Award honorees receive a certificate, a DAISY Award pin for their ID badge, a hand-carved serpentine stone sculpture from Zimbabwe and recognition on the DAISY website. At Duke, the DAISY award is given quarterly, and each entity has a winner.
