Geeta Swamy, MD has been invited to serve a four-year term as a member of the National Vaccine Advisory Committee (NVAC). The NVAC is a federal advisory committee that studies and recommends ways to encourage the availability of an adequate supply of safe and effective vaccination products in the United States. The group also recommends research priorities and other measures to enhance the safety and efficacy of vaccines. NVAC advises and makes recommendations to the Director, National Vaccine Program (NVP), who also serves as the Assistant Secretary for Health. Dr. Swamy continues her commitment to vaccine research at Duke, now the Department of Health and Human Services will benefit from her expertise.
