MFM Specialist Federspiel and Dept. of Medicine Colleagues Receive Seed Award

Congratulations to maternal-fetal medicine specialist Jeff Federspiel MD, PhD, and Department of Medicine colleagues Ceshae Harding, MD, and David Shaz, MD, who have been awarded a seed grant by the Office for Faculty Advancement. The theme for this grant cycle is “Strengthening Faculty Communities Through Innovative Engagement and New Connections.” The seed grant program will provide financial support for these novel initiatives from March 2024 through March 2025.

Dr. Federspiel is a project lead for the Obstetric Medical Group's award: “An interdisciplinary initiative to foster academic collaboration between obstetricians, internal medicine specialists and population health experts." The award is co-sponsored with the Office for Research and Innovation.

This multidisciplinary social and professional collaboration aims to support the careers of Duke faculty members who are interested in the care of pregnant people by organizing a one-day conference, quarterly networking dinners and a lecture series. These in-person activities are intended to build community among faculty who frequently work indirectly with one another by facilitating direct peer relationships and mentor-mentee relationships.

The awardee luncheon was held on April 8 in the Brodhead Center. Read full article.
