Sarahn Wheeler, MD, has been selected as a 2018 Health Disparities Research Institute (HDRI) Scholar. The Health Disparities Research Institute is scheduled to take place July 23-27, 2018 in Bethesda, Maryland. Dr. Wheeler was selected based on her interest in becoming a health disparities research scholar and her accomplishments to date. She currently serves as Duke Ob/Gyn's Director of Diversity and Inclusion.
The goal of the Health Disparities Research Institute is to provide participants with a broad overview of the leading issues facing minority health and health disparities research and stimulate discussion of proposed research projects.
Beverly Gray, MD, has been awarded a $2500 School of Medicine Faculty Flex Voucher, to be used for development of academic careers through a scholarly project. Dr. Gray will use her Duke Office of Clinical Research (DOCR) award to publish research titled "Randomized placebo controlled trial for Gabapentin to control pain with office procedures."
