Welcome Arleen Song, MD, MPH

Dr. Arleen Song joined Duke OB/GYN minimally invasive gynecologic surgery (MIGS) division in July 2016.

Dr. Song became interested in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery due to the positive impact that this type of surgery can have on women’s lives. Women can now have surgeries that in the past would have required several nights in the hospital as an outpatient procedure via robot-assisted laparoscopy, conventional laparoscopy, minilaparotomy, and hysteroscopy.

Her approach to patient care is based on understanding that each woman she sees is an individual with different medical needs, values, and concerns. Together we will collaborate to find the best and most appropriate plan for the patient whether that be surgical or medical management.

Dr. Song has focused my clinical interests on the surgical and medical treatment of uterine fibroids, abnormal and postmenopausal bleeding, ovarian cysts, endometriosis, and finding alternatives to hysterectomy.  She has a particular interest in robot-assisted laparoscopic surgery for myomectomies and complex hysterectomies.
