Residency Program - PGY1

Program:

Residency Program

Start Year:

2026

Why did you choose Duke for your residency training?

My partner and I attended medical school here and we fell in love with Durham, as well as the people at Duke! It's such a supportive and welcoming environment at an exceptional institution, and we couldn't imagine ourselves anywhere else.

What excites you about the residency program at Duke Ob/Gyn?

Duke OB/GYN is an incredible mix of excellent generalist training and exposure to world-class sub-specialists. As someone who is not sure of their career path, it is important to me to have strong mentorship and exposure to all of the aspects of OB/GYN. Additionally, I love medical education, and this program has a huge emphasis on teaching and developing residents as educators.

What are your career goals?

Undecided! I am interested in fellowship training, possibly Maternal-Fetal Medicine or GYN Oncology. Regardless of my sub-specialty, I enjoy teaching and would like to remain in academic medicine.

Describe your research interests/goals:

I am interested in communication-based research, particularly in trauma-informed care, addressing patient mistrust, and navigating difficult conversations (e.g. breaking bad news, goals of care). I also have interests in medical education and obstetric critical care research.

What are your hobbies?

I love being active, whether that is running, hiking, weight lifting, or walking my dog. I also enjoy what I call my "grandma hobbies": crocheting, sewing, and baking!
