Residency Program

Why did you choose Duke for your residency training?

My Duke interview was one of my earliest interviews during the cycle, and I couldn’t help but compare every other program to it. In addition to the academic and research excellence, unparalleled volume and phenomenal clinical and surgical training attracting applicants from all over the world, the unique culture at Duke stood out to me. The genuine commitment to community service and strong emphasis on advocacy and kindness deeply resonated with my values and reminded me of why I chose medicine in the first place. Every person I met on interview day seemed warm, incredibly kind and genuinely happy. I did not want the interview to end and felt an immediate sense of belonging. As the first immigrant in my family, I was looking for a second family in residency and a place I could call home. Moreover, I was looking for a program that values diversity and offers opportunities in global health. I found all these things at Duke and cannot wait to embark on this new journey and learn from pioneers in the field!

What excites you about the residency program at Duke Ob/Gyn?

So many things! I am excited to meet and learn from talented co-residents and faculty who are leaders in the field. I am also eager to serve the diverse Durham community and become part of it. Finally, I remember how Dr. Davidson ended the interview with a quote about kindness and the goal to train “kind consultants” – nothing excites me more than thriving in such a supportive work environment and making a difference in people’s lives by simply being kind.

What are your career goals?

I am keeping an open mind, but mainly interested in maternal-fetal medicine and reproductive endocrinology and infertility. I love teaching and mentoring and would like to stay in academic medicine. My big picture goal is to be able to connect with patients from all backgrounds and provide them with a safe and inclusive space to discuss important care topics. I am also interested in community engagement and would like to take my clinic to the streets and seek out hard-to-reach populations.

Describe your research interests/goals:

My current research interests include disparities in perinatal care, the role of artificial intelligence in medical education and exploring opportunistic salpingectomy for ovarian cancer prevention at the time of postpartum sterilization

What are your hobbies?

Hiking, cooking (Mediterranean food!), traveling, karaoke, running, photography, watching sunsets
