Residency Program

Why did you choose Duke for your residency training?

The moment I heard that Duke specifically seeks kind and gracious physicians, I knew this was the place for me. The program’s focus on health equity for all, patient advocacy and community involvement — combined with world-class clinical training and mentorship — makes Duke the ideal environment for me to grow into the physician I aspire to be. Additionally, as someone moving with a family, I was drawn to Durham’s rich history of civil rights and social justice and its vibrant food scene. I wanted to train in a place where my family could thrive, both professionally and personally, and Duke felt like the perfect fit.

What excites you about the residency program at Duke Ob/Gyn?

I am most excited to build a strong team with my co-residents, celebrating each other’s wins and supporting one another through challenges! I feel privileged to serve the people of Durham, and I am eager to become part of Duke’s ongoing work engaging with the community, learning from them and implementing programs that create meaningful change.

What are your career goals?

I’m currently deciding between a career as an academic generalist or a gynecological surgery subspecialist. Regardless of the direction I choose, I aspire to blend my background in economics and medicine to develop financially feasible strategies that increase health care access for underserved populations and improve Black maternal health outcomes.

Describe your research interests/goals:

I am interested in health literacy, quality improvement, patient education and reducing health disparities, particularly in underserved communities. I hope to improve how medical information is communicated so that all patients, regardless of language or background, feel informed and empowered in their care.

What are your hobbies?

Eating good food, listening to live music, home improvement projects, indoor cycling and dancing.
