Residency Program - PGY1

Program:

Residency Program

Start Year:

2024

Why did you choose Duke for your residency training?

I chose Duke Ob/Gyn because of its supportive environment and strong sense community. I was drawn to the program’s focus on training “kind consultants,” prioritizing patient-centered care and collaboration. I was also impressed by Duke’s dedication to resident education. Furthermore, I was captivated by the program’s unparalleled research opportunities and commitment to patient advocacy.

What excites you about the residency program at Duke Ob/Gyn?

It is an honor to be part of the collaborative and inspiring community at Duke Ob/Gyn! I am excited to refine my research and advocacy skills under the mentorship of leaders in health care and innovation. I look forward to the chance to use my research, position as a physician, and voice to advocate for patients and address health disparities. Most importantly, I am thrilled to learn from my patients, peers and faculty at Duke!

What are your career goals?

There remains a pressing need for physicians who investigate reproductive physiology as well as the barriers to health care that still exist today. I aspire to pursue a surgical subspecialty in obstetrics and gynecology within the academic realm, where I can lead in designing patient-centered clinical trials and addressing these gaps. I am dedicated to creating a landscape where an individual’s right to reproductive healthcare is not a privilege but an unequivocal reality.

Describe your research interests/goals:

My research interests and goals center on improving our understanding of pathophysiology and treatment options for pelvic floor disorders. More specifically, I'm passionate about exploring the vaginal microbiome and the intersection of epigenetics and urogynecology. I also aim to better understand and address barriers to care in ob/gyn with a focus on health policy and equity.

What are your hobbies?

I love painting and pottery. I have a lot of fun using different media like broken glass and clay on a canvas. I also really enjoy making pottery pieces either through wheel throwing or hand-building methods. My other hobbies include food adventures, skiing, traveling, meditation and hiking.
