Duke University Hospital and Duke Regional Hospital were named among the Best Maternity Hospitals in the nation for 2020 based upon standards of excellence determined by national experts in conjunction with the Leapfrog Group. These standards and included achieving low rates of C-section, episiotomy and early elective deliveries, and following high standards of care for mothers and newborns. Both DUH and DRH achieved the highest ratings for each of these criteria. They are joined by 15 other hospitals in North Carolina in achieving recognition by Newsweek, along with UNC Hospital and WakeMed Raleigh. As noted, those selected “are an elite group demonstrating excellence in maternity care.” This recognition is acknowledgement of Duke Ob/Gyn's commitment to excellence, teamwork and continuous improvement.
