Jennifer Plichta, MD, E. Fulton Brylawski Associate Professor in Women's Health, associate professor of surgery and 2025 BIRCWH alumna, received R01 grant funding from the National Cancer Institute to continue her research in recurrent breast cancer.
Her R01 project Post-Recurrence Survival in Patients with Recurrent Breast Cancer: Identifying Key Predictors and Standardizing Assessments aims to create a prognostic tool which will improve the understanding of survivorship trajectories in women with recurrent breast cancer.
Lindsay Edwards, MD, assistant professor of pediatrics and 2026 BIRCWH alumna, has received a K23 award from the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute. Her project, Machine learning-enhanced cardiomyopathy prediction in childhood cancer survivors, will leverage machine learning approaches to improve prediction of cardiomyopathy risk among childhood cancer survivors.
