Residency Program

Why did you choose Duke for your residency training?

There is something to be said about having a "gut feeling." When I interviewed at Duke, it just felt right. My approach to finding a program was first to reflect and consider what kind of physician I wanted to be, and second to find the program I felt aligned with my values and goals and would help me become that person. In addition to having a large research infrastructure and a great reputation, the collegiality and emphasis on compassion are exactly what I was looking for in a program. I chose Duke not only for the program itself but because of the amazing people, community, and location!

What excites you about the residency program at Duke Ob/Gyn?

I am excited to learn and grow with some of the best ob/gyn physicians this country has to offer! I'm excited to interact with students, providers and community members, and truly be a part of something larger than myself. I'm also excited to build friendships with my co-residents and celebrate everything from small wins to life-changing moments to everything in between.

What are your career goals?

My big-picture career goal is to be the best physician I can be and have a fulfilling career seeing a diverse group of patients! More specifically, I envision myself working at an academic institution with my time split between research, teaching and clinical practice. These three elements; research, education and clinical excellence I feel are the heartbeat to what makes a good physician! I am particularly interested in medical education and would love to one day have a hand working in leadership at a medical school or residency program. I also have a personal goal to inspire men to enter the amazing field of ob/gyn! Although I will do my best to keep an open mind, maternal-fetal medicine is the field that made me fall in love with ob/gyn!

Describe your research interests/goals:

I love research and have many areas of interest! My research the last few years has focused on opioid use disorder in pregnancy and how adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) influence pregnancy and beyond. The field of ob/gyn research is so expansive and my research goals are simply to contribute to studies with new and exciting results that can benefit patients at large.

What are your hobbies?

Collecting vinyl records, going to concerts, playing basketball, running, trying new restaurants with friends and loved ones!
