Haywood Brown, MD, has been appointed Vice President for Diversity, Inclusion & Equal Opportunity and Title IX Administrator with the University of South Florida System. Along with his USF System role, Dr. Brown has been named Associate Dean for Diversity at the Morsani College of Medicine and Chief Diversity Officer for USF Health.
Dr. Brown's exceptional career is filled with accomplishments, and his steadfast commitment to improving obstetric outcomes in North Carolina and across the U.S., particularly for underserved and minority women, is remarkable. In addition to his role at Duke Ob/Gyn as the F. Bayard Carter Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and former Department Chair, Dr. Brown has served as Chair of the Council on Resident Education in Obstetrics and Gynecology and was on the Board of Directors for the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine (SMFM). He is also a past president of SMFM, and of the American Gynecological Obstetrical Society, as well as past chair of the Ob/Gyn section of the National Medical Association. He has also served as a Director of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Over the past year, as President of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG), he has done an outstanding job advocating for better health for women.
