Jennifer Gilner, MD, PhD, Appointed Medical Director for the Duke University Hospital Birthing Center

Jennifer Gilner, MD, PhD, has been appointed Medical Director for the Duke University Hospital Birthing Center. Dr. Gilner is a Maternal-Fetal Medicine Specialist and an Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Duke University School of Medicine. She is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology.

Dr. Gilner received her undergraduate, medical and doctorate degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She completed an OB/GYN residency and a fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Duke University School of Medicine.

As a clinician-scientist, Dr. Gilner has built her career around the care of women throughout pregnancy, while working to advance the research and understanding of high-risk births. Her work has included important collaborations with multidisciplinary teams at the Duke Children’s Health and Discovery Institute and the March of Dimes Prematurity Research Center. She has also published numerous documents in professional journals, books and abstracts.

Dr. Gilner is also a leader of the Duke team for management of placenta accreta spectrum and complex maternal surgery. She will continue to work collaboratively with the team from gynecologic oncology, obstetric anesthesiology, and interventional radiology to offer this world-class premier care at Duke Health.
