Residency Program - PGY3

Program:

Residency Program

Start Year:

2021

Why did you choose Duke for your residency training?

I knew that I wanted to train at an excellent academic program. I knew that I wanted to have exposure to as much of the variety that obstetrics and gynecology offers. I knew I wanted to be challenged in a healthy environment that is facilitative to learning. I knew I wanted a residency program that could not only set me up for whatever career aspirations I might have, but that would ultimately train me to be a well-rounded Ob/Gyn. Duke checked all of these boxes and more. I was blown away at the genuine kindness and warmth that I felt from the residents and faculty on my interview. The interactions I have on a day-to-day basis continue to reassure me that I am exactly where I am supposed to be.

What excites you about the residency program at Duke OB/GYN?

The phrase “we want residents to feel like a kid in a candy store” was said by the program director, Dr. Beverly Gray, on my interview day. The thought of training at a program that advertises its willingness and ability to provide resources and support to residents so that they may achieve their goals – whether that be in research, advocacy, fellowship, or career – this excited me.

What are your career goals?

If I had to choose today, I would pursue a fellowship in gynecologic oncology. Long term, I see myself in academic medicine with emphasis on research and teaching. I know there are some aspects of obstetrics and gynecology that I have not been exposed to, but I am confident that my experiences at Duke will allow me to find my career path.

Describe your research interests/goals:

I really enjoy quality improvement and outcomes research.

What are your hobbies?

In no particular order: CrossFit, drawing, cooking, traveling and parenting my two French bulldogs (yes, I can show you plenty of pictures).
